CCC in Groton State Forest
The Civilian Conservation Corps, part of the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression, built trails, huts, roads, and lean-tos in Groton State Forest. This helped to open up the area to more leisure seekers, making it the recreation area and park we know today.
This Place in History is produced in partnership by Local 22 & Local 44 (www.mychamplainvalley.com) and the Vermont Historical Society.
