James Hartness
James Hartness of Springfield, VT was an inventor, mechanical engineer, entrepreneur, astronomer, pilot, and politician who served as Governor of Vermont from 1921 to 1923. He was awarded patents for numerous inventions, including lathes, sundials, and telescopes and was an important player in the machine tool industry in the area.
